Cooper's words

i thought i should take note of some of the words cooper is saying. along with a ton of babbling he is saying:

"uh oh"
"hi"
"hello"
"bye-bye"
"thank you" (this is really cute)
"chachi" (and, hi chachi)
my favorite, "Cash" - he actually yells this when he can't find his brother
"juice"
"mama"
"daddy"

Stranger Danger

Last night Cash and i drove to the airport to pick up Grammy. As i often do, i took the opportunity while we were alone in the car to talk about some important things. tonight's topic was not talking to strangers. i like to casually talk to Cash about things like this so i don't scare or worry him with a big discussion. So i casually asked him if he knew what a stranger was. he said no, so i told him that it was a person that he didn't know and someone that mommy and daddy didn't know. and then i mentioned to him that you shouldn't speak to strangers. he asked why. i told him because they might not be nice and they might scare him. he asked why again. again, i told him that if mommy and daddy aren't there you can't talk to people you don't know because they might not be nice. and then he added, "yeah, and they might have a lasso and try to lasso around your neck. And then you would cough."

there you have it. you never know when a stranger with a lasso is gonna getcha.

Nutella Bread

totally made this one up. but its good and Chandler is forever happy because of it.

i had two frozen bread doughs on Sunday. I was going to make 2 stromboli but by the time i was done with the first i didn't want to make another. so i rolled out the dough and spread an entire jar (the small jar) of Nutella on it. then i rolled up the bread dough and plopped it into a greased bread pan and baked at 350 for 30 minutes.

it was delish hot, right out of the oven but also good this morning toasted. this makes me want to make a cinnamon raisin loaf too. that would be pretty easy.

tonight Cash was messing around in Sylvia's front yard as Chandler was putting Cooper in the car and he fell into her cactus garden. he got really scraped up on his leg and had a bunch of stickers in his leg/knee and pants. Chandler saved the day and pulled all but one of the stickers out with his teeth! the last one is still in there and Cash isn't letting anyone near it anytime soon. HOpefully it will work its way out before it gets swollen.

crabbies

join us in our crabbie feast on Sunday! as requested by Chandler.

  • 8 ounces white crabmeat - use the lump or fancy (i like the lumpier better)
  • 1 (5-ounce) jar Cheddar-horseradish spread (recommended: Kraft Old English) - its in the snack section of the grocery store
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 cup butter (1 stick), softened
  • english muffins - halved/split open, whatever i just remember that once i made them and didn't open them up - dumb.

optional - cayenne pepper for a little kick - i have never done this.

Directions

In a large bowl, combine crab, cheese spread, mayonnaise, garlic powder, butter and hot sauce. Divide mixture evenly over english muffins and spread. I lay all the english muffins on a baking sheet to spread them with the crab topping and then put them in the freezer for about 15 minutes. when you take them out of the freezer its way easier to cut them in quarters. Bake until topping is heated through and golden brown on top, about 10 to 15 minutes.
